Sean Stephane Martin — First, thank you for your insight. It’s interesting your take on my blog post (or “slog” post). My intent was not to demoralize or demean or incite injustice through any of my statements. I apologize for it coming off in such a negative light. My intent was to call attention to a new group being born every day to represent another sector of a subpopulation or community and simply question whether in doing so, it creates more marginalization, not only within the community, but, more importantly, for those within the heterosexual population? It’s by opening up the dialog that I was hoping to create meaningful conversations around this topic.
You also make valid points for sure on inclusivity on our social feeds. We are by no means exclusive and continue to do our best to portray the beautiful diversity within our community. It’s always a tough exercise for us because a lot of our patients seek us out purely to improve their appearance (much like a plastic/cosmetic surgery practice does), so we do feel it’s appropriate to showcase visuals that represent what are clients are hoping to accomplish.
